Born in Reykjavik Iceland in 1970 into a family of artisans and craftsmen Baldur's education was initially in Journalism and Psychology and then later in Commercial Photography at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. After school Baldur travelled extensively working as a photographer and free-lance photo assistant spending the majority of his formative years in Los Angeles, Milan and New York City working for several of the finest photographers in the world in the fields of advertising and fashion.
Baldur?s expansive style incorporates use of exhilarating colors along a strong sense of depth and graphic design. A contemporary look with freedom from repetition hinders the tendency to place the Baldur and his style into a particular box along with others.
Previsualization is key to Baldur's work, a client asks for an image and through communication, photography and post production an image appears, taking pictures is not his business but rather building an image from a concept, a skilled illustrator who has even worked as a tattoo artist Baldur merges the two arts, the meaning of photography, or drawing with light, is never more apt. Baldur photographs any subject, not wanting to be placed under a label working only with a singular image subject he tackles clients from diverse genres, still life, fashion, editoral or corporate work is the norm rather than the exeption.
Either at home with a portable camera and a backpack or coordinating a large crew, complex shoot in a studio environment, Baldur builds on his years of experience as a as an editorial and advertising professional
